Tom Cruise is leaving Scientology

Wow, will be curious to see what this is about. Is he leaving because he actually sees how shitty the organization is and got out from their brainwashing, or is he doing it just to distance himself from the negative stuff but is going to try to be part of some reformed group (which seems to happen a lot with religions).

He's been doing some pretty cool science stuff (paid his own guy to do a new website for NASA or something for instance) and other things. He's seemed more "normal" the past few times I've seen him (well in promotional stuff, which you wonder if he's doing it because the zaniness was turning people off, or if he was actually changing).

he's still a nutcase regardless. You don't simply walk away from crazy imho, unless you were forced into it by your family.

Or the press coverage has gotten so negative that "any publicity is good publicity" no longer applies.

This IS the plot for the next MI.

Mission Impossible: Leaving Scientology

The cynic in me also sees the free advertising that film is gonna get. Cruises career gets a shot in the arm and he keeps churning out the money though now he gets to keep all of it.

Cruise is smarter than he appears.

Painting people as crazy is kinna in with the white folks these days, it gives them a boner. The only thing crazy about that dude is his bank account.

You know, I've never seen Cruise as a crazy. I saw Top Gun (GF request), Born on the 4th of July, Jerry Maguire (big favorite), AFAIK nothing crazy about that stuff. Heard he was into Scientology, so fucking what? I have never paid much attention to it, never "investigated" it, just heard a bit here a bit there, so what? To me, him walking away from it means next to nothing. I'm not one to follow people, investigate their lives, I don't care who they are, how famous, unless they interest me. That does happen. Just who Tom Cruise is, what he thinks and does, I don't give a shit.

I don't care about Cruise either and I like his movies, but I read up on sects and saw some documentaries with interviews of people who escaped after being dragged in by their parents or family, it's incredible stuff. Crazy is not a scientific term but I think it fits.

So long as Cruise doesn't drug and rape people, marry a step daughter, or pull a Perry Mason, I don't give a shit what he does.
