Of course not -- cheaters never get caught the first time unless they're REALLY dumb, and with the Patriots' history of cheating, they're experts at hiding it. :D

Oh yeah, I know, and they should be punished. Likewise, if the Colts deflated those 3 balls, they should be punished as well regardless of whether or not it helped.

Yea, as much as Brady homer as I have been throughout his career I won't defend him here, the emails and the text messages are pretty damming that he wanted some air let out. What I find puzzling is the voracity of the investigation when first of all the NFL should have NEVER allowed teams prepare the balls and possess them before the game, kinda asking for issues. Doesn't mean what Brady and the other 2 are any less guilty, but when you have another star QB (Rodgers) admitting he tries to get over-inflated balls past the ref's or other incidents like the Vikings caught heating up balls with a side-line bench warmer maybe the system for pre-game ball handling is a very bad situation. All in all it will be a stain on Brady's legacy and the stupidity of it (on his part) amazes me when he performs like he did in the SB with regulation balls.

So what? The Patriots needed every "trick" in their book to beat the Ravens.

None of the substitutions, eligible/ineligible plays were deemed illegal by the NFL. The league HAS made some rule changes for the upcoming season in that teams will be given a clear explanation of any substitutions by a ref before the play is allowed to go on.

Report also conveniently released after the draft was completed...

Yea, but if Goodell wants to punish the team vs Brady/ball handlers he will just dock them draft pick(s) next year, they already drafted last for this season.

Actually, they weren't deemed illegal on the field or after the fact because the rule book was too vague on the issue. But they said now, and by virtue of penning the rules officially that those plays should have been called as illegal formations. The rules were officially changed this offseason for clarity of officiating. League officials said as much.

Once again, the Pats got away with one. It's really not much the league can do after the fact that will change the outcome of a game already played.

If they were not yet written, how can they be a violation? In any event I'm still shocked and disappointed with Brady's stupidity, you were blessed with a lot of talent and in reality the 1-2 PSI probably did nothing to affect your ability to be a great QB and your gonna risk your reputation for that?. As a life-long Pat fan this is a very, very sad day. Just the fact alone that you would not hand over your cell phone to Well's speaks volumes about your implication in this mess.

uh, you know I was very on the Pats side but these text messages are pretty damning.

On Oct. 17, 2014, after Brady had complained angrily, the men exchanged these texts, the report says.
McNally: Tom sucks...im going make that next ball a f----- balloon
Jastremski: Talked to him last night. He actually brought you up and
said you must have a lot of stress trying to get them done...
Jastremski: I told him it was. He was right though...
Jastremski: I checked some of the balls this morn... The refs f----- us...a few of then (sic) were at almost 16
Jastremski: They didnt recheck then after they put air in them
McNally: F--- tom ...16 is nothing...wait till next sunday
Jastremski: Omg! Spaz

Then on Oct. 23, three days before a Sunday game against the Chicago Bears, Jastremski and McNally exchanged these messages:
Jastremski:
“Can’t wait to give you your needle this week :)
McNally: F--- tom....make sure the pump is attached to the needle…..f----- watermelons coming
Jastremski: So angry
McNally: The only thing deflating sun..is his passing rating
Here was their exchange on the next day, Oct. 24:
Obama Honors Patriots, Cracks "Deflategate" Joke
Jastremski: I have a big needle for u this week
McNally: Better be surrounded by cash and newkicks....or its a rugby sunday
McNally: F--- tom
Jastremski: Maybe u will have some nice size 11s in ur locker
McNally: Tom must really be working your balls hard this week

And again on Oct. 25:
Jail Guard Mistakenly Paid $30K for One Day's Work
Jastremski: Size 11?
Jastremski: 2 or 3X?
McNally: Tom must really be on you
McNally: 11 0r 11 half......2x unless its tight fitting
Jastremski: Nah. Hasn’t even mentioned it, figured u should get something since he gives u nothing

Eleven days before the AFC Championship Game, McNally and Jastremski discussed McNally receiving items autographed by Brady the following weekend, before the playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to the report.
McNally: Remember to put a couple sweet pig skins ready for tom to sign
Jastremski: U got it kid...big autograph day for you
McNally: Nice throw some kicks in and make it real special
Jastremski: It ur lucky. 11?
McNally: 11 or 11 and half kid

Finally before the start of the 2014-2015 season, McNally referred to himself as “the deflator.”
McNally: You working
Jastremski: Yup
McNally: Nice dude....jimmy needs some kicks....lets make a deal.....come on help the deflator
McNally: Chill buddy im just f----- with you ....im not going to espn........yet

But...but....it looks like the Patriots are more and more innocent by the minute!! Patriots fans told me so!!!

To be fair when it was "leaked" that most of the balls were "a few ticks" off 12.5 and not every one 2 PSI low I thought it could have been Brady insisting they be set to 12.5 exactly and then they dropped a bit during the cold 1st half. Seeing the relevant text's and coupled with Brady refusing to have his phone examined by Well's group (even after he was told his counsel could pre-screen the texts, calls and emails before the investigators), none of us knew what was going on and none of us knew of the text's so yea, we were lied to. I still think the league could/should have handled it differently with a memo issued to all teams that no ball shenanigans, (tampering with pressure, heating balls, adding air to balls) will be tolerated and the Ref's will be checking on this matter. Now one of their brightest star's has egg on his face (by his own hands) and will probably be suspended for a bit. If Rozell was still in charge the memo would have come first to avoid the league the embarrassment of the current situation.

I bet he gets fined $10,000 and that's it. No suspension.

Based on the fact, earlier in the season two teams were caught heating footballs in the middle of game and all they got was a warning. I can't see the "probably more than not" conclusion leading to a big penalty besides the fact that everyone wants to shove to the Patriots. Plus, the fact that 3 out of the 4 Indy balls tested at half-time were under-inflated will lead to no investigation or penalty to them.

What, you're actually surprised that the Patriots lied? :whiste:

I was referring to the specific incident and that the facts and findings had not been released yet and it seemed plausible that the balls were possibly inflated to just barely meet the 12.5 spec and dropped from there. As disappointied as I am at Brady not owning up to this when he had the chance I do not attribute his level of play across a 14 year span to a pound of air in a ball.

A decent portion of those plays deemed illegal after the fact due to a combination of some of the players being declared staying on for a subsequent position as an eligible position after being declared ineligible which would have required the player to sit out a play first. Also they mention that on some of the instances sufficient time wasn't alloted for the defense to be informed.

But as was mentioned, it is all moot for the next season as specific rule changes approved at the off season meetings that will prevent most of what was attempted.

Brady and Belichick are the reason the rules changed to allow teams to prepare them. Can you possibly wonder why they would want that rule changed?

Brady also denied the NFL access to his text records. I'm sure it's because he's a huge privacy advocate, not that he has even MORE damning texts than the ones that were found.

Brady lied to the NFL, he said he didn't even know the guys who handle the balls. Oops.

Good on you for not sticking up for your home team just because they are your home team.

Fine them, dock them draft pics for next year. Who cares they already got this year's picks in, it'll still hurt the organization. Sit Belichick for a year, Sean Peyton got as much for less for something he didn't even know was happening. Sit Brady for half a year.

They are repeat offenders.
