FWIW, I rented this lens for my D5100 this summer, and while I got some good shots with it, I found myself at times wishing it was the autofocus version. Still good glass, though.

broke down and got the af one for my 5100 a month ago... truly a fun piece of glass...

Yeah, had it in my cart at Adorama, ready to hit the "Buy" button (rebate was on at the time) but choked at the last second. Rented instead, and glad I did. If I needed a UW zoom, this would probably be it, but I'd rather have the Nikkor 105mm Micro. Ah, dreams...

1) This is Canon EF Mount, not Nikon
2) The Canon model (this one) does have autofocus, the Mk I Nikon didn't have the motor, the Mk II does, you're right, but it's going for over $800 all over the place
