WASHINGTON -- With today's smartphones, more people are taking their work and personal lives wherever they go -- even to the toilet.
A new study of mobile phone habits shows 75 percent of people have texted, emailed, used apps or surfed the web while nature calls.
More than 90 percent of people between 28 and 35 will return a call or text while sitting on the toilet.
One in five men joined a conference call while sitting on the toilet, despite the possibility of people on the other end hearing noises or accidentally hitting the FaceTime video conferencing button.
The survey by the marketing agency 11mark shows 16 percent shop while toileting.
Breaking down who does what, according to the survey:

  • Android users are the most likely to be multitasking;
  • A person making a call is most likely using a BlackBerry;
  • Chances are a person on Facebook or using an app is on an iPhone.

that's a weird stall, never seen ones with the toilet paper in front of you and the door to the side 😵

He's probably (hopefully) not actually on the john, in order to make the photographers life a little easier.

I rarely take my phone in the bathroom. That's Kindle time.

People did that at my last job, but there was a very... uh... "foreign" element contributing to that as well as a MUCH bigger problem: once in a while, some person / people would shit in their hand and then deposit it into the TRASH!

Who hasn't taken/made a call in the "back office"? I don't think it's anything new. When I was applying for jobs, I did many a phone interview in the office toilet. It's the only place where privacy is guaranteed. :thumbsup: :awe:

i take the phone with me all the time but leaning on your thighs like that can only last so long.

I always found the use of electronics in the bathroom a little gross. You have to think that you are handling the device during the performance, and before you washed your hands. Then you wash your hands (or might even skip that, eww) but continue holding the cell phone that was being held while going to the bathroom. The phone is no longer clean, and because your hands are now touching it, they, either, are no longer clean.

Then there's tablets. Imagine how many germs are on that screen if it's being used in the bathroom.

The problem with bathrooms is anyone can walk in at any given time, and often they are echoy.

The wiring closet on the top floor that nobody goes to, is better. :awe: The one with that beeping UPS, and the router fan that has shot ball bearings, and spider webs between the patch cords. :awe:
