seems like you are in the market for this sort of things so,

open your wallet and dig deep. buy one of these : http://www.bathrobe.co.uk/

i have bought mine in 1999, and it still looks and feels new. since then, they have gotten even better, i would expect them to easily last 30-40 years.

(they do towels as well)

If the have an accounts department I am almost certain they have found eleventeen different ways to cut the manufacturing cost and make them not last so long since you last bought one whilst spending the money saved on "now even better" marketing. Keep your old one!

what can i say, i agree with your cynical point of view. i hope we are wrong in this one instance. i visited the store 2 or 3 years ago and the quality was still up there, so hopefully this one company has not gone down that route.

not cheap, but far from the most expensive. Don't know how they hold up long term, but one of the softest towel I've ever used. You should wash towels with a dye & perfume free detergent. And don't use fabric softners. They'll make it feel softer, but at the expense of them becoming less absorbent.
