For years, every time Consumer Reports gives their annual survey I've asked for towel reviews (softness vs absorbency) in their request for products to review line. Never once have they done so.

In my travels, I've noted that softness is roughly inversely proportional to absorbency. That is, the horrible rough towels that are mostly sandpaper seem to be highly absorbent. But the towels that are plush, soft, and heavenly can only manage to somewhat move part of the wetness to the other parts of your body, at best.

Is there a miracle towel with both features? I'm basically looking for the stagflation of towels, something that shouldn't exist since it violates the inverse proportionality rule, but in rare cases might be possible.

You know, everything but your hair, crotch, and armpits will air dry in under 3 minutes as long as you aren't in a humid environment. For bathrooms, leave the door open or turn on your poop fan. Takes about 2-3 minutes to dry off anyhow, so not really missing much.

Not much to say other than watch out for "Egyptian" cotton. That label gets misapplied all the time.
Oh, also my generic Walmart towels were super soft and fluffy back when I used my apartment's washing machines. The secret is mostly in the water - dryer sheets aren't enough.

Kaido, though, will be along shortly to break it all down for you.

Thought I saw the bat signal up there :D It's not food-related, but I'll respond anyway! Hahaha.

Yeah, you want hands-on time with towels, because even expensive ones can feel like crap. We just replaced ours with towels from Sam's Club. They had a huge pile of them in the middle of the store, forget what brand, but they sold them individually for, I can't remember, $7 or $20 each or something. Not the best of the best, but like 90% as good & didn't cost $50 a pop, plus they had a nice weight to them.

Hotels should seriously sell their towels and face cloths. If I could buy Hotel quality face cloths I'd gladly pay for them so I don't have to steal them. Even the "cheap chain" hotels have higher quality towels and face cloths than what you can get in the store. I hate this whole "everybody wants everything for cheap" mentality, there is still lot of people who would rather pay more for quality but that mentality means you can't find quality anymore.

Ummm, dude, you do know you are supposed to put them on the floor when done so the maids know to change them out?

seems like you are in the market for this sort of things so,

open your wallet and dig deep. buy one of these : http://www.bathrobe.co.uk/

i have bought mine in 1999, and it still looks and feels new. since then, they have gotten even better, i would expect them to easily last 30-40 years.

(they do towels as well)

I like rough towels. First use after being washed and hung outside is the best.

Haha who knew, seriously did not figure they actually did sell them lol.

I was laughing earlier since there was a Hotels.com commercial showing a lady stealing towels and other hotel stuff. I guess this must be very common.

LoL I figure they account for it anyways cause I'd never spend $60 for a single towel.
