Its only gonna have 120mm fans.... and it will be quiet. There might be some working today, but I need to get the building supplies and prep. I'll give you pictures as I go along with the project.
I have no idea. LEDs must be hooked up with polarity in mind. I think the longer tail is +.
LEDs are low voltage devices and 12V will pop most of them...I know 😱
I bought 3mm three tail LEDs for a Sunbeam Rheobus mod from http://www.allelectronics.com/
They have scads of LED stuff cheap.
Use you DMM to check the voltage at your present rig's LEDS.
Build the case first then worry about lights 😉
Most LEDs work on 3 volts or so. You can use a dropping resistor to run them on 5V (most will run at 5V but may shorten the life of nomimal 3V units). When you look on the web sites or in the catalogs for your LEDs, the listings will tell you the nominal voltage and the light output.
It is wise to use the metal chassis from a normal case and wrap that with wood like shown in most of the neat cases at G-Y's link. Also a good idea to use copper mesh to line the inside of wood where there is no metal to complete the Faraday cage (continuous metal all around) for the electronics. Or you could use the entire case sans bezel and wrap it with wood.
