I was playing "Deux Ex" at the time so I plastered them with my 12 gauge assault shotgun. See, games cause violence!! :D

I'm pretty sure they came to my house too.. 2 of them with black briefcases.. I didn't answer the door, I didn't even want to deal with them.

I pray for the day I'm the only one home when the JW's show up. :D
What would they do if I answered the door with ICP blaring the background?

I definately let them come in!

They tend to be a bit surprised when I turn their little game around and start asking all the questions.

My goal is always to try to get them to think critically... of course this tends to fail because they are so well-trained to avoid critical thinking. But I always like to try anyways... :D

I wish...

For me, it's the complete opposite. They have their headquarters in my development... about 10 blocks away, but it's still in my development and they never seem to give up.

Soliciting and evangelizing are two different things. Strictly speaking, a no solicitation law by itself has no enforcement on people who are not selling anything. And before anyone goes into "they are selling their religion"... it doesn't meet the legal criteria of a "sale".

Ways to deal with door to door religionists:

1. Answer the door naked. Ask them to come in. Explain to them that you have a severe alergy and skin condition, and cannot comfotably wear clothes. Watch them squirm while trying to tell you about their religion.

2. Tell them you're busy having a ritual sacrifice, and could they come back later. Pause, and -- as if you've just had a GREAT idea -- say, "wait a minute," look them up and down and ask, "Are you a virgin?"

3. Ask them in, then pretend you have a nasty case of tourettes syndrome (sp?)

4. Run to the fridge and get some mayonaise, smear some on your hand, unzip your pants, then answer the door and shake their hand(s) vigorously. Apologize for the mess, and explain to them you're a habitual masturbater, and just got done committing your evil sin again and didn't have time to wash your hands before answering the door.

Just a few ideas :D

Ah, come on. They're really nice people who are actually trying to do something good instead of just complaining about things. It's not like they're asking you to buy something, just to listen. If you really do not want to be bothered by them anymore, just tell them that you would like to be put on their no visit list. You might still get a visit every few years because they need to know if you moved or something, but once you tell them that it goes into their records and they see it everytime they are in the neighborhood. But if you like to talk they will discuss most anything, and they aren't usually in a hurry as long as you're not. You could have a much worse person knock on your door.

The problem is they don't listen, but they want you to listen. They are not open to new ideas, but they want you to be open new ideas. They do not think for themselves, and yet they want you to think, etc. There are sometimes nice people I agree, but not actually nice enough to respect you enough to be open to your ideas.

Ya that is a lot of fun sometimes. :D. When the rare intelligent one to your door, you both can learn something from the exchange. However the vast majority of them do not process information on their own and only parrot it out. Talking with those individuals is about as much fun as talking with a megaphone.

Why is it someone is not open because they are not willing to change their beliefs? They are there telling people about what they believe because they believe they are right. As for trying to confuse them, way to go. When a JW shows up at your door, it's not a trained minister. It's just an average Joe person. All JW's preach from door to door, not just a few selected ministers who have had schooling and such. Many are still just learning themselves. When a JW comes to your door it's just a normal slice of the population, some are smarter than others, but above average intelligence is not a requirement for their preaching work. And no matter where in the world you live, if a JW comes to your door they will tell you the same thing on any given point. If you have already made up your mind then your not the type of person they want to talk with anyway.

Wishing any harm or ill will towards anyone who is only faithfully practicing thier faith, and not causing you any harm,is blatenatly wrong and inexcusable. If a person knocks on your door to give you a message about the teachings of Christ, and you don't want to hear it,fine. They where polite enough to knock and ask if you would like to listen, you can be polite enough in exchange and respectfully decline to hear the message. Very simple.

Only a friggen ass hole would do what some of you jack asses claim you do,which I don't believe in the first place.

That's my Christian perspective on the matter. And I don't give a damn about the athiest. You will eventually get your chance to repent, just maybe not in this life time.

What brought out that statement? I don't think such a blanket statement was called for. Or, if it is your true beliefe, why? Care to enlighten us?

And I do agree to great extent [to what you said about treating these people]. These people are just trying to do what they feel is right. If you ask not to be bothered, and they come back anyway, then the situation calls for some anger. But not before. I think it actually takes some guts to go to strangers houses who you don't know, and probably will get yelled by some of them. It is a testament to their faith. I don't see a problem with it as long as they don't try to force their beliefs, or keep bothering you after you have asked them not to.

Oh, and I am one of those damn people who don't believe in god:)

The point isn't to spoon feed you their religion. Hopefully you have the intelligence to realize that, and that your above statement is lacking in sound reasoning.

Chiwawa626, Christ preached from door to door and stated that those who follow him would do likewise. It's not pathetic, that's the way Jesus said a Christian ought to preach.
