Nobody knows who the "Real" Mother Goose was, but there are 3 theories:

- "Goose-Footed" Bertha, princess of Burgundy (952-1035), who was known as a spectacular story teller, specializing in children's tales.

- She wasn't a real person, but the invention of French writer Charles Perrault, who published a book called "Tales of My Mother Goose" in 1697

- Elizabeth Goose- a mother of 10, who in the 1690's became famous around Boston for stories she told to children....she was actually called "Mother Goose"
