The Caerbannog Rabbit is the only carnivorous rabbit in the world. Found in the British Isles, it is responsible for dozens of deaths per year. It tricks it's prey into coming close with it's harmless appearance, then with the ability to leap over 20' and using it's powerful bite, it grabs onto the neck of the victim, drags it to the ground, and devours it.
The Caerbannog Rabbit usually lives alone, and frequently makes it's nest in caves and caverns. Because of it's preferred territory, it is particularly feared by outdoorsmen and especially adventurers. The rabbit tends to use left over bones and carcasses to make it's nest, so large amounts of skeletal remains in an area are a good warning sign that the rabbit may be near.
People working in forests and hilly areas of Britain particularly fear this animal. In order to clear the area for construction, explosives are often used. This has the benefit of clearing large numbers of trees as well as clearing any danger of Caerbannog Rabbit attacks.
An interesting side note: Construction workers in these areas are often very superstitious and will have their explosives "blessed" by a cleric before they're used.
