Fact Check of the Day

White House Falsely Claims Trump Has Created More Jobs for Black Americans Than Obama Did
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, said the economy added only 195,000 jobs for African-Americans under President Barack Obama. In fact, it added about three million.
By Linda Qiu

  • Aug. 14, 2018
What was said:

“This president, since he took office, in the year and a half that he’s been here, has created 700,000 new jobs for African-Americans. That’s 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren’t working when this president took place. When President Obama left after eight years in office — eight years in office — he had only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans. President Trump, in his first year and a half, has already tripled what President Obama did in eight years.”

— Sarah Huckabee Sanders, at a White House news briefing on Tuesday

the facts

False.

I know we're all used to it, but damn these people just never stop.

It's insane that dishonesty is normalized.

If you want to focus on something from that press briefing the fact that SHS said she couldn’t flat out deny the existence of a tape of Trump saying the N word might have been a better choice.
I'm not an editor of the NYT.

She said she couldn't guarantee anything. She made sure that nothing she said meant anything at all, as usual.

EDIT: For me this is the "I don't stand by anything." reprise of this shitting country band jamboree.

If Trump's big defense against being a racist is that he's amazing for black people, then lying about how great he is (as usual), I don't know, it's all a snake eating its own tail, I suppose.

I wonder if, at the next press briefing, that some reporter would actually tell her about that 3M number that is verified against this 195K number that seems to be made up.
Where did cheeto get those numbers?
I suppose its not worth the effort of their part but at least you get the satisfaction of throwing the lies back in their faces.

It's clear that cheeto 700K number is pulled from that DLS database but where the eff did they pull out that 195K number?
It's clear from that same list that the was a 2.955M increase from Jan 2009 to Jan 2017.

I mean this needs to be pointed out to them.

BTW, concerning the "N" word.
Think anyone would even care that a US president calls blacks by the N word?
Think one damn republican senator or house rep would care?
Think one republican state governor would care?
Think this will be another one of those JUST LET IT SLIDE episodes from this presidential train wreck?

AND.... think this could possibly have any impact on the midterms?
Or... will voters be perfectly content having a president and his party that believes using the N word is just another form of personal expressing?
Today it's the N word.
Tomorrow, it's a president addressing gays using the F*G word.
The the next day, a president using derogatory remarks when addressing Hispanics, addressing Jews, addressing Japanese, addressing fat women, addressing bald men, addressing children of single mothers, and addressing single mothers.
When it comes to derogatory remarks, no doubt Donald Trump knows them all.
And isn't afraid to use them because Donald knows his congress has his back.

No longer is this a question of HOW LOW CAN THEY GO.
Now it's a matter of WILL IT NEVER END ????????

On the plus side, if there is a plus side, FEEL FREE people to call Donald Trump any derogatory name of your hearts desire.
And that goes for the media as well.
It is about time we had Wolf Blitzer live on CNN call Donald Trump "An F***ing Moron".
And Rachel Maddow over at MSNBC call Donald Trump "A F***ing A-Hole".
Wolf Blitzer CNN: "Today our F***ing moron president raised tariffs".
Rachel Maddow MSNBC: "Thanks for going us. Tonight we will cover what this A-Hole of a president did today".
Oh wouldn't that be lovely. TRUTH!

If the flood gates have opened when it comes to presidential derogatory remarks and presidential use of inflammatory language, then hell....
LETS ALL DO IT.

The press, the media, democrats in the senate, in the house.
If this is open season when it comes to using derogatory remarks, lets all do it when describing Donald Trump.
Oh boy.
I'd love... ""JUST LOVE"" to see protesting NFL players simple say, "dam right we will protest by kneeling and raising fists. And if this F***ing president doesn't like it, he can shove it up his A$$".
God bless the NFL.

How low can he go? I don't know, but... lets give Trump a run for his money.
Lets beat this albatross of a president at his own game.
And just see how Sarah Sanders likes THAT. :D

She has apologized and the council of economic advisers has admitted responsibility for feeding her bad data. The best people.

I have to say, I'm actually surprised at this. This admin has made so many false claims, it's hard to keep track of them. Is this the first time they actually admitted it and apologized, or did I miss something before?

She's still full of it.
She said the Obama's numbers are correct but the time frame wasn't.
So at what point in his 8 year term does that +195K come into effect?
https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS...lse&output_type=column&years_option=all_years

They cherry picked some sort of data between these 96 months but I don't know where. From Obama's beginning Jan 2009 until August
2010, there were about 450,00 less employed because of the great recession. This would be at the same point in their fist 18 months for both cheeto and Obama.
The numbers for employed African Americans jobs bottomed out in what looks like Oct 2009 at 14,749,000, during Obama's years.

She wasn't truthful in her apology. If she stated that 195K was the number for Obama's 2 terms, she should have actually told what the real number was for
that time frame of two terms that she claimed. So, 2.995M would be the correct answer to give the public. So omitting the time frame they used becomes just another lie.
She still wanted that cheeto's number of 700K to be put against their "claimed" number of 195K against Obama. Just without a time frame.

Lies by omission are still lies.

Effing devious, dishonest POS.

She's despicable. Someone again needs to call her out on this

Their apology means jackshit.. Its incorrect in context and in omission of timeframe and the numbers.

It;s still a false claim. If they were truthful using Obama's 8 years, then they need to put what those real numbers were. 2.995M
I think that the 195K claim was pulled out from their asses.

I think they started the Obama counter the day he was elected and stopped it the day Trump was elected. So Trump got credit for the 2 months before he took office and Obama got credit for two of the worst months in history before he took office.

Not to mention it is dishonest to take credit from the day they take office before any of their policies ever get put in place let alone take effect.

eh, bullshit. why is the council of economic advisers apologizing for her disingenuous claims about certain parts of data, and the absolute wrong data at that? These skid marks in the White House are wholly incapable of taking any responsibility for their gross misconduct and near-100% rate of objectionably false claims. It is always someone else that must fall on the sword for our provably gross nature.

The actual Trump inauguration attendance numbers were sucked into a time paradox and somehow reappeared on SHS's daily briefing under this topic.

It's the only explanation.

In my lifetime this is the best economy that I have witnessed (knock on wood). However, the faster we rise, the harder we fall, the downswing is going to suck.

I haven't seen "flooding the zone" before but it def fits. It's a great way to describe what a bullshit artist does. Make the truth unknowable. Go with the feelz.
