why?
cause he's from beantown... nevermind the fact that Pedro turned that franchise around over the last... oh I don't know how many years.

As a Mets fan, I have no hope. But only time will tell...

PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN!

when are the Mets ever a favorite. thats why i'll continue to pull for them. funny how the last 3 world series were won by wild card teams.

On the plus side Mets fans, Scott Kazmir went 5 innings and only gave up 1 run in his first game...
it would be quite sad if we kept dwelling on this for the rest of his career... thanks for the update though.

I dwell on this because, up until that point, I was a diehard Mets fan. Bonilla, Burnitz, Cedeno, you name it, it didn't turn me away from the Mets. Once they traded Kazmir, something clicked in me that really turned me off from the Mets. I really want to like this current Mets team, but right now I still have a wait an see approach.

I liked the team that reached World Series in '00 against Yankees.

The Mets have shown how important a TEAM is

early 90's super high paid superstars = last place

00- an outfield of Payton, Agbayani, Derek Bell, infield- Ziele, Ventura, no-hit Ordonez, Alfonzo and a pitchitn staff of Leiter, Bobby Jones, Rick Reed, Glendon Rush, Hampton

of those lets see, 5 years later,
Payton is ok
Agbayani is in Japan
Bell who knows
Ziele and Ventura are old
Ordonez still cant get a hit
Alfonzo is still good

pitching Leiter and Hampton are the only ones that maintained playing well

now early 2000's high priced players who dont play together and arent inspired

omfg you forgot Olerud!

the mets gave up on Dotel his rookie year too. god the GM office was terrible in the 90s

remember the "best infield ever" Ventura, Ordonez, Fonzie, Olerud. it was a thing of beauty.

mets always start the season losing though. last year i think it was in Japan w/ the cubbies.

any real met fan knows they ALWAYS start slow. besides, its only the 3rd game of the season.

defending champs are 1-2 so far. big freakin' deal.

can't win em all. can't lose them all either.

I agree they normally dont start hot, but lets look at records in years they made the playoffs-

lets see 2000- started 2-1
March/April- 16-10

1999- started 2-1
April- 14-9

1988- started 2-1
April- 15-6

1986- started 2-1
April- 13-3

----
dont get me wrong, i havent given up, i dont give up until they are mathematically eliminated every year.

Because he's a little punk. I never liked the asshole even before I moved to Boston. I thought he was a Prima Donna just like A Rod. At least now that he's in the National League is he throws at someone he'll face some chin music himself.

Yup, I used to like Pedro too, but after his disrepect of Tito, Schill and co. after leaving Boston I can only hope that he gets what he deserves.

I don't get why people here don't like pedro anymore. I am a red sox fan and i hope pedro has a great year. He came, he did his job, he left. He owes boston nothing.
cause a lot of people, for some g-d-knows-why-reason care about the drama more than they should. It's just fricken baseball... it's the stats and standings that matter. I don't know why people rag on celebrity drama but choose to care about athlete drama...

I can't see how you could think this way, if you really WERE a Boston fan you would know the utter garbage that came out of his mouth disrespecting Tito, Schill and Eps. after he left. Did you just say la di da and forget about it?

Hahaha, Boston is in my blood. I was born a red six fan and will die one. He shared his opinion and he got crucified for it. Did it ever occur to you that what that is the type of person he is? He just speaks what he thinks.
