"Today... the Republican Party will kneel before Trump."

Erick Erickson, former editor of the conservative web site RedState, has this post up this morning. I wonder if he's right?

If so, the end is near! D:

The party faithful should, frankly, make them radioactive. This meeting comes as news spreads that Utah, the most Republican state in the nation, will be competitive for Hillary Clinton if Donald Trump is the nominee. But these guys don’t really care about that. They know the donor money will still flow and they will still control the access and power in Washington with Trump in charge.

HAHHAAH on the same sentence they said the most conservative and will vote for Hillary. HAHHAHAAa

Erick Erickson, what a blow hard that had an allergic reaction to something, I mean look at his head.

HILLARY will be indited! FACT. and Bernie will never I repeat never get elected.

Go ahead and move to Canada because Trump is going to win. I don't know what is funnier that Liberals/Progressives are simultaneously going to wet their beds November or the GOP is going to fill their diapers to the rim on that same day!!!!!!!

HAHAHHAHAHAHAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I kinda doubt the OP author's hypothesis (Trump nomination would make Hillary competitive in Utah). What I do know is that nominating Cruz instead would ensure that the GOP might win Utah but will lose every single swing state and perhaps some otherwise reliably red states. If you lined up the remaining 5 major party candidates (Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Hillary, Bernie) Cruz would be dead last for me and a whole lot of other folks also.

Quote from Deseret News:

SALT LAKE CITY — If Donald Trump becomes the Republican Party's nominee, Utahns would vote for a Democrat for president in November for the first time in more than 50 years, according to a new Deseret News/KSL poll.
Now that the Trump minions are shitting on Mormons because of this recent polling, I'm sure Hills chances are only going to get better...lol!

Either way, the meltdown of the Republican party is nearly complete.

I adore Trump not because he would make a great president (he wouldn't) but because he single-handedly dismantled the power structure of the Repub Party and gave control of it to their base, of whom were constantly indoctrinated by the GOP heads of state to obey and rally around a guy that precisely fits Trump's job description and persona.

Ha-haaaa.

What goes around has finally come back around, dressed in a clown suit with a wheat colored divot on his head tweeting on a flute he charmed off of the Pied Piper.

GOP, you asked for it, you got it.

Enjoy. 😀

It's inside the margin of error for the poll with 26% undecided at this point. I didn't say it was impossible for Hillary to win, I just doubt she will. You'd have to assume that sizable undecided group to ultiimately be 50/50 in pulling the lever for Hillary come election day and I don't think that happens. Standard disclaimers about it only being my opinion, all opinions stink, et certera fully apply to this post.

Up to a couple of weeks ago it was Trump who was carrying Utah but his numbers there are plummeting. His going after Romney isn't helping either as Utah went overwhelmingly for Romney in 2012. With the new attacks by Trump supporters on Mormons that this polling is driving, I'm sure that Democratic chances are only going to get better there. Trump isn't going to win the general, no way. IMO, at the most Trump might get 10 states in the general (basically the South and OK). I'm already preparing to listen to eight more years of howling from conservatives about how the Democratic President is blowing up the nation.

Trump is the best thing Democrats have had going for them in a long time...lol!

The GOP is already kneeling before the Trump. Else, why would they scramble around trying to unite before, need I say it twice, Cruz. Not too long ago on the third planet from its star none of the GOP establishment would even consider backing the flatulant Cruz.

They have made their bed, let them wallow in it! 😎

Wait, why are republicans all hating the thought of Cruz? Don't they always say the candidate they nominated wasn't a true conservative and that's why they lost?
Cruz is a conservative, so you'd think this is their chance to show the rest of us that they're right.

Utah became a state in January 1896, the last 19th-century addition to the U.S. map. Utahans voted for Democrat Franklin Roosevelt four times (1932 through 1944) and for his successor Harry S. Truman in 1948. Aside from that period, the state has only voted for Democrats twice, the last time being in 1964. Like many other Rocky Mountain states, Utah is now solidly Republican. In 2012, Mitt Romney defeated Barack Obama, by 72.8% to 24.8%. This is the largest margin of victory in any of the 50 states since Ronald Reagan beat Walter Mondale here by 74.5% to 24.7% in 1984.

Bolded the last part
They (Utah) have not voted as a collective for a democratic president in 52 years

And now it looks like, depending on the nominee from gop, they could turn Utah blue. Awesome...

It's going to be the biggest political knee jerk in history if Trump scores the nom. All the pundits railing against him will suddenly be singing his graces. The best entertainment is yet to come.

Erik E made it very clear publicly that he strongly opposes Trump. His remarks look like a preemptive shot at those in the GOP establishment who are meeting with Trump. It's basically a warning to them with a bit of a Cruz plug sprinkled in.

It's nothing more than the establishment/media railing against Trump. I.e., SSDD.

I do think Clinton's chance to take Utah is a better one than The Duck's chance to take, say, New York.

Cruz is a conservative, so you'd think this is their chance to show the rest of us that they're right.

The stupid party leadership doesn't want a conservative any more that the dem party leadership wants someone that isn't a corporate whore. Both parties like their plumb positions in DC. They love their elitist lifestyle and the perks they give themselves. If you think any of the establishment set cares about you, you're an idiot.

If the Freedom Caucus wasn't bad enough I'm sure Trump has set Repub leaders to asking themselves "My God! What have we done?"

They've been sticking their dick in the crazy for decades, making false promises all along. It was bound to have some rough patches, like their steady squeeze coming at them with a hatchet...
