Today is the worst day of my life

My 15 year old Irish Setter was put to sleep this morning, he had torn a muscle in his chest and it was getting progressively worse.

My brother just called me to let me know, as I'm in residence in Toronto.

It hasn't really hit me yet, this is worse than losing a friend of 15 years. I'm going to miss him so much.

end rant for pity/

🙁 I have a black lab thats getting pretty close too, the day it comes I know will be hell. Sorry for your loss.

:brokenheart: Damn man, I feel ya... I've lost two dogs in my lifetime... very very hard. Their undying loyalty and true goodness. It's very unfair that they live for such a short time.

My sincere condolences

Rant for pity?

Losing a pet is like losing a family member...you have every right to feel bad it is only human.

Yeah it really is, my mum is pretty busted up over it.

We have another dog but she's 16 and probably won't last long without the other one, so it's a lose lose situation.

They want to get a kitten to fill the void, which I think is a good idea.

I'm going to have to face the same thing soon...I've got an old mutt that's fifteen years old and has arthritis, is completely deaf, can't see very well, and has some very intense anxiety issues. He's stabilized for the time being but I fear he won't be around another 2 years.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you...

🙁

Dogs represent what humans should be...loyal to the death and good hearted if treated fairly.

Just go out and buy a new one, it will probably cheer you up in no time.
I understand the reasoning, but the phrasing is off.

There is no way to ever replace a lost loved one. You can, however, build new memories and love for a new pet. The new pet is not a replacement, but an addition to the rooms already housed in your heart.

My condolences. 🙁

Here's wishing it remains the worst day of your life for a long time.

Yeah, I realize it might not seem that bad, but anyone who's had a dog this long knows how bad it feels.
