Back in September of last year the 2tb caviar black was on sale at newegg for 99 bucks. I thought to myself, I don't NEED it right now, i'll just buy it in a few months.

ATF, today I weep because i'm about to buy the same drive for around 220$. Hold me. :|

If you still don't need it, why buy it?

Hmm, I think you meant the "green" drive was $99, AFAIK, the black edition was never that low.

Lowest was $130...

Green drive at that size was sub $70 if not lower. If you were willing to open an external WD drive up and use the drive inside, you could have gotten a black 2TB for around $64.99 + tax (most likely involved a coupon).

As for the Black drive, you are right in that I can't see a standalone drive on any deal site lower than $126.xx.

Also WD says output won't be fully restored until September:

so from 3-6 months it is now out to basically a year.

I do not think I can wait that long to upgrade my storage system :/

o well, time for some heavy trimming. Must be something I do not really want to keep.
