I decided to check out our local ribfest (second largest in North America) with my girlfriend, Quirky Chic.

10 different ribbers made it a difficult choice. We decided to try Texas Rangers BBQ. She got the half-rack dinner and I opted for the pulled pork dinner. Dinner comes with baked beans and coleslaw.

The pulled pork (on a bun) was very good. Soft and tender with a nice and slightly spicy sauce. Very filling and tasty. The coleslaw was quite nice and not soaked in sauce. The baked beans were the bbq style and were quite good and quite spicy with a nice thick sauce and big chunks of onions. Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner.

Quirky Chic really liked the ribs. Plenty of meat and little fat. She really liked the sauce on the ribs. Smokey with a bit of spiciness. She liked the coleslaw but she doesn't like baked beans. That was ok, as I ate the beans for her.

We both enjoyed getting out and trying the ribfest. I just wish I had more money to try some of the other vendors. Maybe next year.

I've never had "fake good pulled pork".

Please tell me more 😀

Pulled pork is really easy to make, it's the sauces that can make or break it.

Dude, Jack the Ribber was where it's at!!!! I went there twice, the food was just phenomenal. Apparently Boss Hogg's won again, but I think Ribber is better..

I love the London ribfest... I go at least 2-3 times every year.

:awe:

There was so much choice as well as long line-ups. We choose Texas Rangers randomly. I heard some people complaining Boss Hogg's ribs were too fatty.

We had a great time roaming around there. Next year I will put more money off to the side for this event. Bills and debts caught up to me last month so things are a little tighter.

I made a horrible mistake earlier this summer and tried the Subway special pulled pork sandwich. I had two or three bites and couldn't finish it. Truly awful. I had to throw it away and go hungry.

Saturday I had lunch from a very good BBQ joint in Vancouver and had the ribs, to get my BBQ mojo back on track.

There is nothing better than well smoked and cooked BBQ.

Things I learned at the largest Rib Fest in NA -

Order the sampler and never a meal or platter. Being able to try the various 3-bone sampler's with your significant other led us to be able to eat at quite a few of the places up in Sparks.

Other item we loved was the blue cheese cole slaw.
