Okay... so I went to court this morning to fight a speeding ticket I had two months ago. I go to court, ask the Judge if she'll put it under advisement, and I walk away with what I want. I knew I was happy to have no points, knowledge of the ticket disappearing in 6 months, and only having to pay $90 total instead of $110 plus court fees.
This evening I go to leave for work to tell one of the ladies I work with what happened. As I'm waiting to turn out of my subdivision at the light, I see a green Acura turn northbound. It looked like it had a little bit done to it and I wanted to get a better look. So my light turns green and I make my left to go in pursuit of it.
I've really been watching my speed the past two months to make sure that there are not anymore mistakes. The fastest I would go to try and catch up to the car was 47 within a 45 zone, but I knew I couldn't catch up without speeding. I get up to the light where the Acura is and I realize there is a cop car in my rear view mirror. I think to myself, "Wouldn't it be funny to get pulled over the same day that I got put under advisement?"
I pull into the parking lot of Wendy's (which is inside the parking lot where I work), he follows me in, and turns on his lights. I could not believe I was being pulled over. The first thing that came to my mind was, "There goes my advisement period." He comes up to my car, asks for my driver's license, and then procedes to ask what the rush is. I tell him that there was no rush and that I was going up to work. He questions me about it a little bit until I tell him that it was my pay day today and I was getting my new schedule for next week. Then he asks about why my windshield is cracked. So he goes back to his car, runs my driver's license and comes back...
He tells me it's my lucky day today. The officer said he wasn't going to write me a ticket for my windshield or "speeding" because I have a clean record. He tells me to take my air freshener and high school tassel from my rear view mirror and to get my windshield fixed.
So by the end of this little 10 minute ordeal, I've turned ghost white, shaking, and sick to my stomach. I knew I was not doing 58 because I would have caught up with that Acura well before the light instead of right at it. It makes me wonder if he knew about me being under advisement and just wanted to hassle me.
