ToCA Pro Race Driver

Whoa, this game rocks (PC version). Best racing game I've played in a very long time (keep in mind I loved the Carmageddon series).

Gamespot link... Only a 7.1, but it is a great racer. Been out a month already... can't believe I missed out for so long.

On top of the racing action (full damage, BTW - flying side mirrors anyone?) are some digitally hot babes with the storyline and some obscure language - makes for a great laugh. Good stuff by Codemasters.

I got the game months ago on PS2. Played it a couple of times and the action was really crazy. Perhaps I'm getting old coz I just couldn't keep up with the pace 😛 Haven't had time to play the game to follow the story, but it should be fun.

How's the requirements on PC?

physics are crap, steering is crap, story is a joke.
Grabbing LFS demo... is this game fully released yet? Site indicates no, but others say released April 2003.

About your comments on ToCA... it was meant as an arcade game... you can tell by how little info they give on the vehicles themselves other than BHP. I love the arcade-ish power-slides you can do going into 180-degree turns.

But if you want realism, go to the custom codes area in Options and enter 'sim'. That is all.

LFS hasn't been released yet. But it soon will be. They're going with an incremental release. 18bucks (i think) for the first release dubbed S1, which will give you more cars and more tracks. S2 and others will add more features as they make them, but for more money.

I enjoy a good arcade racer (Need for speed series, or daytona in the arcades), but TOCA wasn't even close to being believable, even by arcade standards.

ugh:
This link worked for me for the LFS Demo. (46megs)

Bought the PS2 version... pretty bad physics... traded it in for Auto Modellista... physics aren't realistic but better IMHO. Find it odd that I loved all previous TOCA games.

Nascar Racing Season 2003 is an 8.8 on Gamespot with user ratings of 8.0 ... there's undoubted driving realism in that one, so here we go...

LFS demo didn't impress me much other than the very realistic physics as far as handling. Best yet... but everything else (lack of damage and other visual enhancements) brought it back down to earth. The menus were very cartoonish too. Hopefully for their sake, it'll get much better in subsequent releases.
