Hi,
I'm not new to Toad, though I don't mess with it for about 5 years now ... same with Oracle databases.
I downloaded the free version of Toad, now when I tries to connect to a remote DB, I got the error:
"Initialization error - Could not locate OCI dll"
So googling around, I understood that toad obviously needs some API to be installed on the client side.
The question is, I can't seem to find it on Oracle ... I can find a Instant Client for the new 10.1 version, but when searching for a 8.1.5 version reveals nothing similar (at least to my eyes).
Well, I can find a "Oracle ODBC Drivers for Oracle 8.1.5" which after extraction reveals a products.jar file, and I'll need a so called "Oracle Universal Installer" which I'll search now on Oracle site.
My question is, before installing unnecessary drivers on my machine, will this ODBC drivers provide what is needed for toad to connect?
Thank you.
