This is the point that I don't understand. People still went to great lengths to smear and dig into the life of TM, but people didn't do the same with GZ. Why was it when you heard the story before the trial, and before all the facts came out people fervently took the side of the guy chasing a kid with a gun, vs. the kid who was gunned down not too far from his house?

You can argue that the facts revealed that is was self defense. But before whatever those facts were people decided to already donate to his fund and people decided that he was already a hero. Why?

I keep repeating. The one thing that shocked me is that I found out Zimmerman's wife left him the night before the shooting. I didn't know that during the trial, yet knew TM, spit out carrots when he was 2 years old. People even here went into great lengths to make videos of and find out why TM was there, why his parents divorced, what he ate 2 years before the incident. Yet, none of you cared to even question Zimmerman's account of that night or what happened to get him there. You guys had already chosen to support Zimmerman, the question is why?

That is because we have so many racist bigots in this country it is sickening. They even posted pictures of TM on facebook and twitter trying to make him look like a thug before ANY trial or any facts did come out. These folks worked hard to smear this kid and tried to make GZ look like some fucking saint.

It wouldn't have made the national news cycle, thus no media circus, thus no amazing quantity of disinformation, thus no moral outrage when the trial doesn't go according to plan?

In other (dog whistle) words, this should have been swept under the rug right?

Oh I think the trial went according to plan alright in setting a murderer free. Then he goes on to assaulting his girlfriend and her father and all other crap that was reckless.

The fact that the Police Chief and original State's Attorney said there was not enough evidence proving anything other than self defense by the law should have clued people in that prosecuting this case would never be successful.

People started contributing once the railroad came to town as they knew that this case had become a politically driven affair based on a false narrative.

I agree racism was at it's core. I'm just wondering what rational these posters give for it or if they can just admit it and move on.

Edit: I also think these people have a n unhealthy fascination of death and killing.

Yep...think I'll leave this thread to the butthurt brigade, critical thinking doesn't seem to be something critical to them, OG and emp can jerk each other off to the end of time, I'm out
The thread is based in emo-logic. Which means no logic.

Both sides chose their sides before the facts came out, dude. The battle lines were drawn early. That's the way it is with politics.

You can argue that the facts revealed that is was self defense. But before whatever those facts were people decided to already donate to his fund and people decided that he was already a hero. Why?

Because they believed he acted in self defense as surely as the TM supporters believed TM was killed in cold blood.

Same as above man. From what I recall, though I can't document it because I never followed it very closely, GZ was scrutinized pretty heavily.

There is no dog whistle, there was nothing notable about the shooting except that the decedent's family lawyer drummed up a racist narrative about a state law where there's "no real difference between outcome in cases based on race." Full disclosure, because you've already used your dog whistle language to label me a racist, "When you looked at the race of the victim, however, there was a difference. And so if your victim was black, you were more likely to win your stand your ground argument than if your victim was white."

Whose plan was it? Was it Angela Corey's plan to overcharge or did the racism just cloud her brain with delusions of fame and a book deal?

One side saw an adult chasing a kid who was running home and then was shot. They then thought the adult had some culpability and it was a shame that the kid who was doing nothing wrong was dead. I'm not sure what the other side saw besides a white guy and a black kid.

If GZ was scrutinized pretty heavily then I'm sure it would have been known that his wife left him the night before the shooting.

GZ must have just had the worst luck. One night his wife moves out. THe next he kills someone. Hmmm....

So this was just a callout thread for the "racists"? Guess it caught you then;)

And in case you missed it Geo is pretty much gone now

LOL..."nothing wrong"...LOL

Which has what to do with the case exactly?

Worse luck than getting suspended multiple times for various things like drug paraphernalia and "suspected" stolen property then assaulting someone while on one of said suspensions after being sent out of town by your mother because she couldn't control you? Let it go, two hot head fucktards came together by chance on a dark and stormy night, which one was worse is questionable but the shooting was justified, end of story.

the funny thing is of all the people, emperus is by far the most fascinated in learning about the life of George Zimmerman. None of us care but for some reason he cannot help himself from learning all he can :)

Truly amazing how far people will go to avoid looking in the mirror.

Both sides saw what they wanted to see. Leftists saw a black kid targeted by a racist white guy. Rightists saw a thug attacking a non-black guy who acted in self-defense.

An awful lot of circumstantial or speculative evidence was kept out of the trial, including the majority of what Bill Whittle detailed in the video I linked.

I am somewhere between these two. Yes it was justified self defense but it was a situation he created. He shouldn't have walked away a free man.

You and I actually agree pretty much dead on in this situation.

If nothing else I do think Zimmerman's giving autographs is in extremely poor taste on his part.

It's just hard to respect you or what you write. You're a cliché.

What is with you people. You use the term racist, seemingly without nary a real understanding of what the definition is. But hey, racist seems to be a good go to insult for black people who call other's racists. Something akin to elementary school and you are too. I'm sure tomorrow you'll be complaining at how black people use racism too much.

I think you are closeted racist (the actual definition type). It drives most of your believes. When you admit it to yourself, I'm sure the world along with your mind will open up.

No, people saw a grown man chasing then shooting an unarmed kid. People thought, that no matter how it ended, it probably shouldn't have gotten there since GZ should have probably went home and let the police handle it.

Righties saw a black man attacking a non white guy, made every excuse for him and demonized the kid.

For me, it came down to the 911 recording. 45+ seconds of Z yelling for help. That means that it went on for more than a minute if you add in the time needed for the lady to realize there was a problem and call 911. If Z was looking to shoot someone, he wouldn't have waited that long to do it.

The FL law was pretty clear on the imminent threat.

Grown man vs unarmed kid...

Martin was taller and heavier than Zimmerman. The incessant media portrayal of Martin as some cherubic child is one of the problems here.

Sure, Zimmerman shouldn't have confronted Martin. But that's not a crime. Martin then attacked and pinned Zimmerman to the ground telling him he would die tonight. That sounds like a legitimate claim on which Zimmerman could base lethal force to defend himself.

Righties saw a black man attacking a non white guy, made every excuse for him and demonized the kid.

Just like lefties did vice versa. Or do you not remember this?

FTFY. And what exactly do you think Zimmerman's wife leaving has to do with Martin. Be specific.

I see Zimmerman as a fucking loser- self appointed neighborhood watch idiot who picked the very fight that he supposedly needed to kill someone one in order to defend himself from. That's the chickenshit version of self-defense in my book.

Had he been minding his own business, and randomly attacked out of the blue, attacked by someone that had it out for him, or attacked on his own property by some aggressive intruder, then I'd be the first to say it was legit. But following people around, picking a fight you can't finish and then using deadly force to get yourself out of the shit you started yourself is pussy chickenshit. But then, I guess that's what a lot of our society is becoming. A bunch of fucking pussies who celebrate one of their own.

This has always been pretty much my opinion as well.

The OPs article was interesting even if it's sociology 101.

First of all SYG was never presented at the trial, it was not a part of the defense...
JUROR: Right. Well because of the heat of the moment and the Stand Your Ground.

A person pinned to the ground cannot flee.

And you think a Juror's commentary is somehow... relevant!? It is not. What is that Juror going to do, instruct us on how a person on his back needs SYG? How they need to somehow overcome their attacker and then flee before defending themselves?

You've got me rather curious now.

People don't admire him for shooting some black kid. They admire him for taking on the system and winning.

Hahahahaaaa... there are people at this forum that would prove that wrong. let alone other right wing nutter sites.

EDIT
Just read some of the replies, I hope you can rethink that original thought now.
