The only things I subscribe to are Ars Technica and Linus Tech Tips, but I'd like to find a decent news source to support. I was thinking about the New York Times, Washington Post, and maybe The Economist, but I was wondering if there were any that you all particularly like. Ars is getting a little too big media for me, it feels like they're being consumed by their parent company and while they do still write some great content, that content is getting drowned out by fluff. I know they're really trying though.

I worked as a news director at a radio farm back in the early 2000s and I have friends who work for local newspapers. It's a brutally tough business with very little pay. I don't mind paying for good content.

I started a thread like this earlier in the year and most people said why pay for any kind of content when it's all free, you are dumb if you pay.

I subscribe to the NYT, Washington Post, trying out the WSJ but it's going to be too expensive after the promotional period I think. I support the Guardian as well.

It's free until no one can make a living doing it, then proper news disappears and all you get is what special interests will pay to have published/broadcast. It's hard to find a lot of real journalistic sources, which is the main reason I made this thread.

Nonstop Trump and tweet coverage is the new normal. Just easy, cheap news to produce. :(

Added :) I'm aware of them, the only reason they weren't on there already is because I'm used to them referred to as "The Daily Mail", whereas they appear as "Mail Online" in the sources list.
You have stuff that I have not even heard of lol. I have stolen some of your bookmarks :D

Damn, Crono...do you actually read all those?

I swipe through the headlines and read anything that catches my eye. I'm not sure exactly how many articles I read, but usually 30 to 40 summaries/excerpts, and 5-10 full articles (I'm a speed reader). It does take a good 45 minutes a day just to keep up with that, though.

Lately I've been behind because I'm reading a lot of threads in the technical forums here for some builds I'm working on, but they are close to done so it's back to news during breaks at work and while I'm brewing my morning (well, afternoon, but it's morning to me) coffee.

I used to use Twitter more for news, but I was finding myself replying to too many things, which eats up time. RSS is more efficient for just keeping up with news. I also get a lot more tech news and reviews through podcasts and YouTube subscriptions.

None, but I subscribe to New Yorker print since ~2004. This gives me online access, I guess. Does that count?

Washington Post is delivered to my front door on Saturdays and Sundays for some reason--I actually have no idea why, and I ain't paying for it.

I use Facebook with subscriptions to several pages like Alan west, The Conservative Millennial, Tomi Lahren, FoxNews, many news reporter pages both local and cable news based, etc, etc. I also have the FoxNews App where I get headline notifications and can stream. I also have the Drudge Report App.
I use Twitter as well. Then I search the net or use the Internet Public Library.

Interesting a few people here mention RSS. I've read a lot of people don't use it and that's apparently why Chrome got rid of it unless you use an add-on. I use the Pale Moon browser so it still has a built-in RSS and I have a few things there like Bruce Schneier's blog, and Packet Storm.
