To use 1 UDMA/66 cable, or 1 UDMA/66 cable and a regular IDE cable? Please help!

Hello,
I'm building my first computer and I just installed my Liteon 16x DVD and my Maxtor 40gig hd. My motherboard (EpoX 8KHA+) came with a UDMA/66 cable (I think that's what it's called) and a regular IDE cable. I was planning on using the UDMA/66 cable for the DVD and hard drive but the cable isn't long enough to reach both.

I assume a hard drive should always be master when possible, correct? And a CD/DVD drive should be slave?

Should I use the UDMA/66 cable for the hard drive and the regular cable for the DVD and set them both as master?

Thanks for the help,
Justin Sampson

Use the ATA66 cable for the hard drive and set it to master.

Use the standard IDE cable for the DVD and also set it to master.
