As i said earlier i have mainly 2 system one that i have all too myself and dont let anyone touch it. They other one is a rather old P4 "LGA775" with a 6800 Ultra combo. This system is use by everyone else for movies to light games.."Two words BEAN bags"

Now yesterday the dam GPU had a power issue which i taught at the time was a SPMS problem after changing the dam SMPS the prob. stayed and when i got the 6800 checked it was found that the card has died due to some reason...!!!

I had earlier taught about upgrading that machine when the Deneb and Nehelem were released later this year.. Now i have to buy a card or go on with the upgrade!!

So should i buy a 3850 AGP which will take about a month to reach here because i have to special order it or wait and upgrade it to a 4850 single with a cheap amd/intel processer OCed offcourse + new m/b "Because this one does have LGA775 but no PCIe.

If i buy the 3850 i will get of cheap and will not have to spend so much on upgrade's but 3850 AGP worked out to be more expensive than a 4850 in India and i felt that was a rub...!!

Not your main PC but your old one ,hmm think I would go for a cheap card replacement if I was in your shoes so 3850 ,I would probably upgrade the whole thing later, its not like you need to upgrade your P4 right now(so I would do the whole upgrade later when the funds and time is right).

For a media center secondary PC? buy a used AGP card on ebay.

why would it take a month for the 3850 to arrive?

I'm sure you can buy a cheap AGP card for a replacement, either Nvidia or ATI card in India.

As taltamir suggested there's always ebay.

Guys remember he lives in India...

I would just swap out the computer, I mean, AGP HD 3850s are expensive, a cheap mobo and a cheap PCI-E card would probably be less expensive.

You don't need a 3850 for light video gaming and movies. Something like HD2600Pro or HD3650 should suffice.
