Hi,

I just built a new machine with the following components:

Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Extreme BIOS Version 0803
Video Card: Asus ENGTX 560
RAM: GEIL 4GBx4
CPU: Intel I7 3960X
CPU Cooler: Corsair H70
PS: Corsair 1200 Watt
Case: Corsair 800D
Pioneer S-MM751RU Speakers

My question is, I cannot get any sound out of the speakers! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek HD audio driver a several times. I have downloaded the driver from ASUS, Realtek and CNet sites, still no sound.

I am at my wits end. The mobo has BIOS version 0803 and version 1005 is now available. I did read where someone had a similar problem and updated the BIOS which took care of the issue.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, update it. Though why do you have 16gb RAM, 3960X, 800D, 1200W PSU paired with an H70 and a GTX560?

amdhunter - Windows 7 64

Smoblikat - Good question! :) I've been building computers for about 10 years and honestly just know enough to be dangerous! But honestly, since I don't game - a lot of video editing, the video card is not the most important feature for me.

Do you have any other suggestions, in general? I'm always open to those who have much more technical expertise than I do!

If you edit video then crank the clocks on that SB-e, maybe a better cooler like the A70 or the 212 evo. Definitley update BIOS, and roll back to nvidia 275.33 drivers, ive had better performance with those than any other set.

Hi,

The BIOS shouldn't have anything to do with the sound, other than to make sure it is enabled in the BIOS settings..

Make sure your audio output is analog and not digital ..

Can you get sound from earphones ?

If so, might be a problem with the speakers.. It looks like they are powered with USB .. Make sure you have a good USB connection for those speakers ..
