To those who have ordered from Dell

Did you have to sign for your UPS package from dell? Or do they just leave it on your doorstep? Ive gotten a few parts from online stores that ship via UPS and they've just been leaving them...but my monitor is coming today and with the heat id rather they not just leave it on my dorrstep.

I ordered a dell 17" flat panel yesterday around 1 pm CST with the free 3-5 day shipping option and it arrived this morning (in Dallas)...

When my video card arrived I didn't have to sign for it but when I get laptops I always have to sign for them.

BS.

The laptop I got 2 weeks ago was left on the door.
The 2x 2005 LCD's I got 2 months ago were left on the door as well.

do you have some sort of agreement with UPS where you signed ahead for all packages to be left? If not...whats to stop someone from saying the package got stolen from their porch and getting a new one sent?

Dell computers and peripherals require a signature. Whether you have an agreement or your driver is disobeying orders is something completely different.

Per dell's website
"How many attempts will be made to attempt delivery of my order? Will it be left at my door if I am not home?

Many of the main carriers that Dell® uses will make 3 attempts to deliver your order. If after the 3rd attempt, a delivery cannot be made, the merchandise will be returned to Dell. The carrier MUST obtain a signature for orders being delivered, unless you have a request on file with that carrier to allow them to leave deliveries without your actual signature. Due to the value of the contents of the boxes, the carrier will normally not leave them at your door step. "

I'd consider shutting the f up before I called BS next time, buddy.

I would be paranoid if I were you.

Call UPS customer service, give them the tracking number and ask what can be done?

Then my UPS guy is a fvcking idiot.
I live in a pretty secluded area so theft isn't a real possibilty. But the guy is probably too lazy to walk up my driveway etc..

I had the opposite problem with USPS. I would be home for signature confirm deliveries. Door would be open, car in driveway. Mail delivered would just leave the "sorry we missed you" card in the mailbox at the end of the driveway. He did this 4 times before I had to go to the PO and make a compalint against him.

yes you have to sign for it. if you aren't home they will just take it back to their warehouse and try again two more times. after that you have to come pick it up yourself.

well the tracking says "out for delivery" already....

if its out for delivery then you are probably not going to have any affect on this first attempt.

Have you opened it yet? You might want to call Dell and request a PRICE ADJUSTMENT before you open it.

The 1905FP is currently selling for $213 plus $21 filler items.

$213!!! I paid $690 for my 19" back in Nov 2002.
