Venice floods a few times a year...hopefully you won't end up there at a bad time. The city is somewhat small and you can see most of everything in a day or two. The museum there is pretty amazing when you consider the beautiful paintings and sculptures.....

The canals though smell like butt. :p Overall, it's a beautiful place to visit and getting around is cheap because you can literally walk everywhere.... Getting to Venice costs a boat ride though. Most of it is expensive once you get there....it's another Italian shopping mall complete with foot locker, etc.

Rome is huge...you could spend 3 or 4 days here easily. Subways are the way to get around. You can get a 1 day bus/subway pass for 4 Euros.... If you stay in the middle of the city, you'll be right next to the train station and have the best access to everywhere. There are lots of sites to see, but it's not what I would consider to be a relaxing city...there is a lot going on here. Florence is a lot more romantic if you ask me.

Well this is the plan so far... I definately want a relaxing trip after the crazy wedding, but in the same respect, I don't want to be bored out my skull :)

It all starts 2 days after the wedding...

Fly from Miami -> Zurich (nonstop)

3 Nights in Lucerne, Switzerland
2 Nights in Zermatt, Switzerland
3 Nights in Florence, Italy
then... either option
a) 3 Nights in Rome or b) 3 Nights in Venice

Fly from option a or b to Zurich.
Fly Zurich -> Miami (nonstop)

if relaxation was my goal....

...i'd spend 2 or 3 nights in Venice and take the train to Zurich. i say 2 or 3 nights b/c, depending on the length of the train ride, you might need to cut into your stay. however, venice doesn't need 3 days to be seen, and the ride through the italian alps is amazing, not to mention much more relaxing than another flight.

Well were gonna be taking the train through the alps on the way down and its much cheaper to just fly back from where we end up...

Rome was by far my favorite -- spent a week there and could easily do it again.

Then another week in the hill country -- Umbria. Spent 2 nights in a 1000 year old castle (very cool).

One day trip to Portofino was picturesque and well worth it.
