To those who hate Best Buy PSPs

So I bought a JVC DVL120U MiniDV Cam back in November of 2002. I had spend almost a grand after I walked out of Best Buy with the camera, bag, some tapes, and a firewire/software package. I also got the PSP with it basically for use of the head cleaning. I figured there was no way I was going to get 8 cleanings (every 6 months during the 4 year PSP) for any less than $160.

Fast forward to now...

The last outing at the drag strip proved that my camera was slowly starting to fail me. The breakaway LCD screen is now showing a garbled display. It's one of those almost as if you were flipping through TV stations over the airwaves. The camera still records, but I hate having to use the eyepiece.

Best Buy tells me that whatever is cheaper, they'll do. If it's cheaper than what they want to spend to fix it, I'll have my same camera back. If it tends to be more expensive than what the camera is worth, I get a credit towards a new one.

I guess that's a hell of a lot better than having to dish out another $500 on a MiniDV camera.

stop laughing at me...:(

;) I think that the warranties are valid on certain items, like camcorders...my mom bought a cheap $350 Sony camcorder a year or so ago, and I had her pick up the PSP too...so far, we've gotten a battery and charger replacement, which retail would be easily around $100, more than the PSP. Ontop of that, with such a small unit with so many moving parts and an LCD screen, the PSP is probably a wise idea. ^_^

They're probably going to tell you the camera is only worth $50 , since it's 2 years old

and broken (j/k about the broken part)

but seriously, how much credit will they give you? What you originally paid, a portion of it, or do you
get a newer camera even exchange ?

It should be what I originally paid into it. That's how it worked when I've killed my cell phones that I've had a PSP on.

Did you call bestbuy or did you go in the store? If just called, then when you go in the store, they will find a few scratches on the camera and say that it was abuse the caused the damage. So they will keep your $160 for the PSP and you will be looking through the eyepiece.

every extended warranty I have bought I have used, and hot more than wat I paid out of it. I bought one on a pair of subs that i blew, one on the Rockford Fosgate amp that I overheated (price was included in the amp actually) bought one on my Casiopia that I caracked the screen on, bought on on my Zuk, which I cracked the front pumpkin on (2k replacement!) and bought one on my Ram, which I blew the rear axle 3 different times.

So, I buy them when they are a good deal, or I think I will use them. I am 5/5 so far :p
