thanks again to dx-treme for sharing the deal. I experienced some staticky reception all the time.... but after upgrading my timeport's firmware to the latest ver 7058 , have great results. Better reception and drop calls are close to history and plus it seems to be able to manage battery consumption better.

If you're like me who constantly upgrade my device drivers and firmware from my m/b bios to video card drivers, you would understand why this is important.

drop in to any one of the sprintpcs stores to have it upgraded.

btw, if anyone is interested, I have 1 spare motorola timeport 8167. email me, if interested. logicz@yahoo.com

I have a Timeport L7082 (I think). How would I find and go about updating the firmware on this puppy?

A timeport is the next model up from the startac. It look like the startac but the difference are ...It's silver looking and it has Wireless Web capability.

just bring it over to one of the SprintPCS store and they'll update the firmware for you. If you do have this phone, upgrading the software really makes a big difference in terms of reception and signal quality. The customer rep there told me to always check back once every 3-6months for software/firmware updates. Again the latest one is ver7058. to check which version you have go to --> fnc 1 --> phone options-->system options -->software version.

thanks to d-xtreme... I got my timeport for $9.99 after the rebates. This phone kickass. It sells for $249. thanks again dxtreme for sharing the deal. now I'm a cellphone user =).
