To those of you that like Ice Hockey...

I'm actually beginning to see the difference and enjoy watching the Olympic games more. The passes are more fluid and there seems to be less stoppages in play. Less board action but I prefer more open field play.

NHL: The average size of an NHL rink is 85 feet wide and 200 feet long. Goal lines are 11 feet from each end-boards-.

Olympics: International hockey is played on a bigger surface, with a rink size of 98 feet wide and 210 feet long. Goal lines are 13 feet from the end-boards.

I don't have a hardcore preference. Give me hockey on a pond, I probably still won't complain 😛

The great thing about the olympic rinks is that it gives the skilled players a little more room to razzle dazzle.

The new rule changes in hockey has definitely made things worse in my opinion....the game is no longer the same. So I guess I would say the OLD NHL

Widening the rink = less seats.

Then again, it's not like most teams come close to selling out anyway, so they might as well.

The owners would never agree to a bigger rink. Less seats=less profit.

Obviously as a hockey fan, I'd love to see the bigger rinks.

It doesn't really matter to me.

My son's been playing for 3 years now, and it still amazes me that they play on the same size rink as the Pros.

I mean...just the phycisal size difference, from kid to adult, makes the ice look much smaller.

On a side note: I find it much more entertaining to watch the kids play than to watch the pros. 🙂

I'm going to have to agree with you that it's more fun to watch hockey pre-NHL. That's one great thing about living in Minnesota--we are home to the best highschool hockey in the nation. That and there are several D1 hockey schools in MN alone.

I don't like how hectic it seems now...it seems more soccer like to me...back and forward without anything happening

I like the size of the olympic ice. I only wish they would use some of the new rules that the NHL is now using.
