To those of you stuck with dial-up...

Would you ever deal with the phone company again?

As someone who's stuck with dial-up I've grown to hate Qwest with a passion. I've decided that the moment I get a broadband option other than DSL I'll never go back to the phone company for anything. If DSL is the first thing that becomes available then I'll use it until I get another option but the moment I get that option I'm gone. So who's with me?

Max out for dial-up is actually 53.somthing. That's not the point, though. I refuse to believe that the phone companies couldn't go the last mile if they really wanted to. Hell, I just found out the other day that the little town I live outside of has miles and miles of dark fiber. This is in a town who's CO doesn't even support DSL. Yet they've got fiber. Just sitting there. Unused. It's fvcking stupid, simple as that.

Edit: Forgot to mention the way I found out they have fiber. I found out by talking to a guy who was out doing some surveying in preparation for..... laying another fiber line..... They don't use the one they have, so they're going to lay another one. Does that sound stupid to anyone but me?

mmmm fios... all the towns around me get it 🙁 but not my town.

I feel your pains, OP. I have DSL and cable options but I have to get other craps that I don't want/need in order to get broadband.
In the end, I have to pay about 55 bucks per month. I am envy for those who live in the big cities and only have to pay around $30 or so a month for broadband.
