To those in the UK; (cell phone question)

Plan on picking up local prepaid sim card (o2, vodaphone, tmobile, orange... whoever ya reccommend) while im in oxford this summer to use with my unlocked Audiovox 5600 smartphone...

Question though;

1) Which service has the best coverage around Oxford? London? (is that as much of an issue over there as it is over here?) When i was living In the Netherlands, i went with KPN because their coverage was significantly better than the others.

2) Are incoming calls free on prepaid sims?

3) Are toll free numbers free to dial from prepaid sims?

Luckily both #2 and #3 were both yes in the Netherlands, which saved me a HELL of alot of money w/ international calling...

1) All the networks have good coverage in cities. Most have very good everywhere. Choose Vodafone for the greatest coverage.

2) Yes

3) No, not on any kind of SIM, prepaid contract or otherwise. It is standard call rate.

1) I think Orange and Tmobile are the best, England wide (I have an orange contract myself, but had a Virgin prepaid)

2) Incoming is usually free anwhere in the world. I don't know any place that charges you incoming, unless you are roaming.

3) It depends. Usually there will be a message before they connect you to the number, if the number is going to be charged. 0800 should be free, but 0900 (premium) is usually charged at the advertised rate (the rate advertised by the company that you are calling) and sometimes there is an extra little bit.

I suggest visiting their website, and seeing who has the best offers at the moment, but AFAIK, there shouldn't be any problem of there being no connectivity (unless you pick "3" [but I'm not even sure if they do prepaid], they do go offline once in a while and it's not worth it)

Thanks appreciate it.... Yea when i found out #3 was true in holland, i just called the local AT&T international calling card number, and was dialing home from my cell for $.03/min

Do the sim cards run about 10-15 pounds?

SIM card should be around £15, yes.
Vodafone here (work and personal), and the coverage is great.
