Newbie here, where can i find the site that lists which propositions passed? I couldn't find it!

assuming you mean for california, the secretary of state's website has all of the state-wide results.

Of course I voted for Stem Cell Research funding. This is the future of medicine, and people need to realize it.
The point is WE are paying for it. We'll pay for the research, then we'll pay fortunes to buy whatever product results from the research that we are now forced to fund.

I don't really mind that at all, honestly.

Not for 6 billion dollars:| Let me guess, you're not a homeowner?

Nope, I'm living in my dad's apartment while I'm attending college, I dunno if that counts for him though... But it couldn't be THAT much money per person, could it? The net result would be well worth it IMO.

I attended a lecture by some guy who helped uncover the human genome (the programmer dude, can't remember the name), and he said basically that the public should pay for it, but he doesn't quite think it should cost this much. To an extent I agree, but I find it worthwhile regardless (a vote yes, to me, is still better than a vote for no).

Yeah, what a shock. Property tax is the easy place to get more money. Sheesh.

How much is it for the average person, though? I can't imagine it being so much that it'll make a dent in most people's wallets.

Property tax is BIG MONEY. You're right, it isn't alot for the average person becuase a large number of people don't have to pay property tax. So really its resting on the shoulder of far fewer people. Go ask your dad what he pays in property taxes every year. Its on the order of many thousands of dollars.

I can imagine that he pays that much in total, but I mean, how much would this add on? I'm thinking it'd hardly make a difference, although I honestly have no idea.

um. Well the figure is 6 billion dollars... however you slice it, it's a lot of money. Considering we're already devastated financially

Bingo. The real key is this state is already strapped for money. The last thing we need is to spend 6 billion dollars we don't have.

Considering the fact that we just kicked out a governor (Gray Davis) because of fiscal irresponsibility; why in the world did people vote to Borrow 3 Billion Dollars?! we do not have the money! /boggle

Thank our fiscally conservative Governator for endorsing the bond measure!

He endorsed it a few weeks ago, and right now, his word is as good as gold to most Californians.
