fuck this thread was hard to find for some reason.

Anywhooo. What did you end up doing, if anything, destrekor? I bought a G27 the other day for $150 from Best Buy (couldn't pass up that deal). I see GCS' setup came out really nice (post #18).

Don't know what I'm going to get if anything. Will certainly be cheaper for me to sell the G27 for profit instead of having to buy a racing seat/giddup, a PS3, and GT5 when it comes out :p - I can still dream, though. Doesn't help that I'm broke.

Want something realistic yet easy to store away when I'm not using it.

i built my own stand. a little wobbly, but 97% better than my old solution.
the biggest thing is that the pedals don't slide on the floor or carpet.

More like $400 but yeah still too rich for my blood. I'd just ghetto rig some other furniture for free. I can appreciate the craftsman ship of it though :)

Well I've yet to purchase anything as time has been limited because of school, and don't want to pay a lot for something that I won't use in case something better comes along. That, and I don't want the temptation. I have basically set myself at a phase where I refuse to play a racing game until I have a stand, so... that's one less game to tempt me. :D Not that I've found an effective way to resist other games, like I really want to resist them though. :p

But, damn that apex stand just looks awesome, really like the way the shifter attachment seems to work, as it can be put on quite a few places and looks adjustable to boot. I want.
But $340ish is just absurd for a collection of metal pipes configured with rotating joints. I hate the manufacturers of racing wheel stands, they have a small niche market and the customers justify the costs some way and permit the companies to absolutely rape them.
I won't pay that much for what the product consists of. Having someone else design, build, ship, and offer warranty for a wheel stand is a nice convenience, but isn't worth the pricetag they charge. Not for someone without disposable income. If I made mid 5 figures or more, yes. Hell, if I had an actual 5 figure income in general I think I might spring for it. Once I'm out of school and hopefully secure a job I can support myself with, then I might start eying a few products I wouldn't otherwise consider. Who knows, I might get something before then, or I might just wait till summer when I hopefully have such a job.
