To add another point, who is going to train all these car/plane drivers/fliers? And at what cost? Flying is not nearly as simple as point-and-hope driving most "drivers" seem to engage in......there's a reason flying lessons are so expensive and long.

Think of it more like a plane that you can drive home and park in your garage. You will still need a proper runway, but with the added convinence of being able to retract the wings once you reach your destination airport and drive to your final destination.
