I can't comment for him, but I will tell you even though my 17 is only 9mm, it has a helluva kick for a mm gun because of its lightweight, way more kick than my fathers heavy p89. But that doesn't make me dislike the gun, My fathers reason for not liking them was how the gun felt in his hands, he doesnt like any of the polymer gripped guns. He also didn't like the safty functions on the gun, until he actually got out and shot one.

I see, then it may take a little longer to get used to using a polymer handled handguns, and at the same time they're easier to carry around, because of its lightweight...
I would highly recommend you going to a FEW local gunshops, perferable ones with indoor ranges and testing the guns aforementioned. You will never know untill you shoot them if you like them or not. Its a waste to spend the money on it and not like the gun. However I think you would like any of the guns mentioned, they are all great guns, jut each one fits into a little different catagory than the other.
