To Smart Response or Not

I just purchased new parts for a system I will be building this week. As part of the purchase I got an SSD and an HDD.

OCZ 60GB SSD
WD Black 1TB HDD

I planned on using the entire 60GB SSD to perform Smart Response caching since I don't want to have to manage the space for programs and such. I am using the system for games 90% of the time and I alternate between 5-6 games right now. The rest is browsing, email, occasional media (music and videos).

Please give me your thoughts on if Smart Response is the way to go or if I should just install OS and some programs on the SSD and the rest on HDD. Thanks!

If you read the latest article on xbitlabs: "Hybrid Disk Drive with Your Own Hands: Intel Smart Response vs. HighPoint RocketHybrid" you will see that using smart response will net you a boost.

However if the amount of programs (windows + games + office programs etc) that you plan on installing and using is taking up few enough GB's use the SSD solely for that and store stuff on HDD.

I use a Microcenter branded A-DATA 60gb for SSD caching on my gaming 1tb WD BC.
It works like a charm!
My FSx game load time used to take from 1-2 min now only takes from 30-51 s.
I'd say go for it.

SRT is nice. i'd do it if you got the Z68.

IMO, 60GB is just a hair too small for a win7x64 install and 5-6 modern games. Remember, you don't want to have your SSD filled to capacity at all times.

Your 1TB on the other hand im sure will comfortably store all your games.

I am running smartresponse and it is excellent. Probably the most effective way to boost performance without having to manually move files around all the time.

Thanks for all the replies. I only went with the smaller 60GB because it was a Newegg Shell Shocker and ended up being $60. $1/Gb is very nice for SSD these days and I figured since SRT caps at 64GB this was a sweet way to go.
