To report or not to

When I read the small news info on hardocp.com about searching for webcams on google, I decided to give it a try. Well few minutes ago I came accross security cameras from an airport. So far I have fround 4 from the main lobby just by changing the simple lettering in the address bar. I am positive I can find more. I do consider this a HUGE security breach considering I can clearly tell where all the security guards and security checkpoints are.

Now the question is, should I report it? I'm a little scared considering what happened on 9/11. Will they treat me as a hacker and hunt me down (sys admin protecting his ass) or will they change their security settings without any fuss and possibly reward me?

I REALLY NEED SOME ADVICE!

PLEASE POST YOUR OPINIONS!

i would report it straight to the administration...instead of the sysadmin...that way he doesnt get a chance to try to hang you out to cover his ass...

I got an airport once, but it was in Germany or something, and you couldn't see much.

Um, if the webcams are being broadcast on the internet, then they aren't worried about any security issues. If they were in a closed circuit setup and you were somehow able to hack into it, then yes there would be a problem.

Good point, but what if they did make a mistake!

I can't understand your fear or paranoia. Call up the airport and ask to speak with who's ever in charge of security. You'll be asked what it's in regard to... Tell them. You found a public website that is boradcating a live feed and you want to know if this is by design or if it was a mistake.

If you're scared, post the links and someone here will look into it.

If this is for real... which I doubt... follw this advice. Report it to someone high up immediately so a middleman doesn't try to shaft you to keep his job (which he obviously isn't doing very well).

whoa, those live radar feeds are COOL.

/edit: Holy crap. go to http://www4.passur.com/jfk.html, set it to Dec. 24, 2004 at 0815 or so and hit "play" at ~40 miles. That's my "I do not want to be an ATC" moment.

That is crazy! What made you pick that date/time? Busy pre-Christmas?

Reminds me of the movie "Pushing Tin".

LOL, the radar feed...... You can clearly see if you click on them that one is at 4100 ft, one at 8100.... That explains that... at first I was like wtf?! but I clicked on them and it tells the altitude... Whew!

yeah, I figured that would be busiest. With the altitude differences, it probably isn't THAT bad...but still!
