To reinstall XP 64 bit

I built my father a system a few months back for some work he was doing and he needed 8 gigs of ram. I opted for XP over Vista. Now, he's having stability issues on it. I'm pretty sure it isn;t the hardware, everything is at stock settings and I even overclocked it for a bit and ran P95, no problems. My next step is to reinstall the OS.

I've never had to deal with windows activation before though. When I built his system, I activated the license or whatever. If I want to reinstall it, is there anything I need to do special or can I just format/install/re-activate?

If the hardware is the same then most likely it wont ask for reactivation but if it does then just go thru the actiavtion screens or call MS. No bigie

Also, the windows activation servers reset after a bit .. about 4-6 months
or so. So you should have no issues with a reactivation. And if it balks,
call MS explain that due to system issues it was reinstalled.
