to RAID or not to RAID?

What will be better for performance?
2 x 76 Western Digital Raptor in RAID 0 and partioned to 2 drives or just leaving the 2 drives separate?

RAID0 provides very little performance increase in a desktop environment and increases the risk of data failure. A single 74GB Raptor for OS/apps and a larger 7200RPM for storage is a very good recommendation.

You will see a definate performance boost....lets say for 'video editing' for example. Now I don't want to see any of you RAID NAZIS say otherwise 😉

And this whole 'over-rated' thing about data failure has been covered a millions times before.

Thanks guys, now moving on...

I will be getting an Asus A8N SLI board. If I don't connect the drives via RAID will I still need to install the RAID drivers with a fresh install of WINXP? (pressing F6 during install)
