To RAID or not to RAID . . . .with the ABIT KT7

I'm faced with a purchasing decision. I know, you're saying, "It's only $20 bucks". Humor me. It's not just the $$$. It's other possible compatability issues, performance, the fact that it's software RAID (the ATA-100 controller itself is hardware, isn't it?)

Lemme know what yoos guys know.

Yes it is hardware raid.

You don't even have to enable it if you don't want to, but that's what the board is for. I'm not using it yet, waiting on two new hd's, but can't wait to see how it performs.

I love my board!! Hooked up RAID the other day and I'm getting sustained x-fer rate of 56.1 MB/s in HD Tach!

That's good to know. I just ordered a KT7-RAID today. Should get it Monday, along with my Duron 600.

I've read reviews on ABIT's HOTROD 100 PCI card, and it showed inconsistent results from test to test. But, after reading so many favorable reviews, it's hard to deny that it is a good board.
