To purchase a wii, or not to purchase...

I've got 150 dollars in gift cards to the mall. I already own a 360 with a high def tv (and I freaking love it) however there aren't that many really good games out for it right now. Not to mention its far to complex nowadays for my g/f to play with me. (Aside from basic racing games and that stuff).

Who owns a wii? Worth the money? Something you'd use a lot if you had a 360 too? How's it for girls?

My wife loves the Wii. Playing bowling and Raymon's Raving Rabbids (sp?) is very fun!

You have a X360 and a HDTV...and you're looking for new toys? Oh...I see...it's b/c your SO is hand-eye coordinationally challenged. You think that the wii w/it's fancy swingable controller thingee will make her happy?

Dude. It's a GAME. Despite whatever joy she may appear to get out of playing on game console w/you, the fact remains that the only reason she STARTED playing was to take up your time. You were doing something (gaming) w/o her and she got jealous.

The fact that she actually liked a game or two was pure coincidence and a bonus for her.

Spend your money on whatever the hell you want and don't worry if she will like it or not.

What was that? OH...it was your GF calling you...

ps
My fiancee HATES the fact that I play PC games for hours on end. Of course I reserve my time carefully; gaming that infringes on HER time/space is punishable by withdrawal of the key to the nookie store. That's why I have "Mike Nights." Nights of the week (they change regularly) that I stay home and GAME. This will not change after marriage. It's been discussed already. She has her hobbies, I have mine. Stick up for yourself!

Do you play games with other people? Do those other people like "fun" games vs. Halo-style games? If so then yes. My friends like 360 games and whatnot, but some of my friends and most of my wife's friends prefer Wii-style games.

I got my wii so me and my girlfriend could play games together and it worked out perfectly.

We play all the old mario games, picked up a bunch of gamecube games to play on it and a few classic games.

The sports pack it comes with is defiantly fun too. Its defiantly a console to play with others.

You're an idiot and can go back to wanking to porn - some of us actual enjoy company of the other sex.

For the record, I get in plenty of gaming on my own time. Sometimes though, its fun seeing my g/f play some games. Ya know, someone I care about... spending time with her? What a crazy thought.

Why is it such a bad thing to spend time with your S/O playing some games you both enjoy?

Geez - some people always have to whine/complain/insult about everything.

Well, I guess that came out wrong.

Wanking to porn is not necessary; I spend ample quality time with my SO. I was commenting on what I perceived to be your question:

"Would my GF like the WII? I want to be sure before I buy it." <--what I thought you were asking

And why I told you don't worry about whether she will like it or not, and just to get it if YOU like it.

Alas; my good intentions were misunderstood. :( Still; I wish you good luck. May your GF's arm muscles become strong and healthy from swinging the Wii controller, so that she may in turn, swing your controller in a comfortable and pleasurable manner.

Rofl, its all good. I got a bit over-defensive :) If Im whipped its by choice - my g/f is the coolest chick in the world.

No - really my reason for wanting a Wiii are two fold. (How many i's in Wiii?) First: 360 is fun, great graphics... but doesn't have those great fun games like Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart that nintendo is famous for. 2. I'd like to include my g/f in some of my gaming - and i hear the Wii is very good for girls.

3. I have 150 dollars to the mall and don't know what else to spend it on - but I know it NEEEDS to be spent :)

I actually found the Wii rather boring after about an hour of play.

Tried Rayman, Wii Sports, Zelda, Trauma Center and Far Cry. I remain unconvinced there will be a good game that takes good advantage of the Wii's control scheme.

Don't buy one. I don't think anyone should buy anything. Just keep your money in a box in the backyard.

It's definitely worth it. All of my friends loving playing Wii, guys, girls, family members, even my grandpa loved it which was strangely odd. My girlfriend who really isnt much of a video game player loves it.

I say buy one if you can find it and get some good games for it(check reviews and whatnot) and play away...if you don't like it you'll be sure to get your money back and then some if you Ebay or Craigslist it ;)

Don't expect to be blown away by the graphics because they aren't that great but they are and will get much much better :)(take a look at SSX Blue screenshots to see that the graphics are improving)

i have a wii and a 360, and i'll tell you one hting ... there are A LOT more good games for the 360 than the Wii, so if you think the 360 doesn't have many good games, you are in for a surprise if you buy a Wii.

I play my 360 daily, I play my wii probably 3-4 times a month.

I'd definitely buy the Wii. It's actual proof that graphics don't make the game as far as I'm concerned. I think the tennis from Wii sports is the most fun I've had from a console in years.
