I own the ATI AIW X800XL and have not been able to make the ATI DVD player work. I have the original CD driver disk which came with the retail package which included the DVD codec but the DVD player just does not work. TV and Radio work fine. The video works fine also. Have not tried the CD player.

Everytime the player was started, it locked in the MMC process and eats up CPU cycles so something is definitely wrong. Any Regedit tricks and/or fix would be appreciated.

I do have other DVD player I can use so this is more of an annoyance than anything. If you are able to make the ATi DVD player work, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Latest ATI Catalyst driver and MMC are being used. My system is an AMD Athlon 64 Venice with Win XP SP2 and all the updates. When download the MMC driver ATI asked for DVD codec validation and it was validated. Then the player would not work.

Thanks,

When download the MMC driver ATI asked for DVD codec validation and it was validated. Then the player would not work.

After the validation you need to either;
*"Use a previously downloaded package". This option requires you to point the install to the "setup.exe" (DVD decoder intallation file downloaded from ATI) By default this is found in the "My Documents" folder of the user profile that originally downloaded the decoder.

OR

*"Download decoder from ATI". This option requires you to press "Start Download". You'll then get a prompt to save the file (by default it is named "setup.exe", and points to your "My Documents" folder.)

with either option you choose to perform above, the "INSTALL" button will become active when the installer points to the "setup.exe" file. Press "INSTALL" and allow the decoder to install. If you followed these steps correctly, your DVD player should now work after the insall routine finishes.
