Dasm, Another one?

What the 7734 is going on with the weather lately.

I hope each and everyone of you guys/gals are safe, as well as friends/family too.

Mike

Edit>

Ew this is not good,

The mayor said a direct hit by Katrina's storm surge would likely top the levees that protect the city from the surrounding water of Lake Pontchartrain, the Mississippi River and marshes. The bowl-shaped city must pump water out even during normal times, and the hurricane threatened electricity that runs the pumps.

"We are facing a storm that most of us have long feared," Nagin said.

Good luck Gravity, dmcowen674, and all others that must face this, you are in our prayers.

Doesn't sound like Smoke's going to take a direct hit, but he's certainly still in the Hurricane Warning area. Folks aren't going to have to take a direct hit from this one to big in big trouble.

All Gulf Coast TeAm-mates are in our thoughts and prayers. Get out, stay safe, and save the crunching for later!

Actually Greg is on the bad side of the storm. I hope he and his has left much earlier. Cars are bumper to bumper on the interstate and they are telling people to get off the road into shelters.

How about you, Jim? Are you going to be relatively safe from Katrina?

Well unless it turns more north we are only looking at 70 mph winds which is less then the last few storms. Of course if it decides to turn more north it could get interesting But Mississippi and New Orleans are looking bad right now.

I just missed this by about 6 days. My friend just evacuated from there. He was heading east as there was a 13 hour bumper to bumper mess anywhere heading out of new orleans. It's pure madness. The city is going to take a brutal beating. It does not look good. The old homes will definitely be destroyed but especially worrisome is the new business district. They have had to massively engineer the area and the buildings to be able to build skyscrapers on mushy marshland (200+ foot steel poles dug under the base of the buildings for example).

Hopefully everyone evacuates in time. Let's all hope for the best.

If he just left he waited to late.
Good luck to him, there is a lot of shelters open here in Pensacola.

It looked like it *might* go far enough to the West to be a bit better for Greg. Better than a direct hit, anyway. Darn thing is, if some folks get "lucky", it only means someone else is under the gun. I'm been hoping and praying that this storm pulls a Lily, and weakens significantly before landfall. Given what they've been reporting as water temps though, it doesn't look promising, and that pressure: 904 MB at last report. Geeze. Hurricane Andrew was only 922, and we know what it did.

Sounds like most are taking this seriously. We're praying for you.

He was hoping to make it to Atlanta. It's one of those situations where it was " it's not that bad, it's not that bad, oh wait it is now "

All we can do is hope the best

Good luck and God bless all our teammates in the storm's path. David in just accross the lake from New Orleans. I know he has had flooded streets with heavy rain, so this could really cause problems!

"duck and cover" ... this is a bad one ... give it a wide berth ...

Whether you are TeAm or not ... I pray and hope for the best for everyone that is impacted by Katrina ...

My gut says that no one will get off "easy" ... especially the "Big Easy" ...

During my trip to the US I also visited New Orleans and a great time there. I really hope that the city and especially the people don't get hit too hard, but what I saw on TV and heard on the radio doesn't sound good at all ...

:(

Sounds like there's a lot of damage.
Hopefully the lack of posting by our friends there means they got the hell outta dodge.

Fortunately it weakened a little before landfall - down to 145 mph winds :( - while that's better than 160 / 190 mph it's still very bad.

Our thoughts & prayers contine to be with you all 'down there'.

Hello TeAm Mates,

I left Biloxi at 10:30 Sunday morning. It took us 7 hours to get to Panama City Beach, Florida ... and I avoided I-10 which made the trip several hours quicker than the folks that stayed on I-10.

I'll have to make this brief. In my hurry to leave I forgot the AC adapter to my laptop. I'm going to try Radio Shack here (when the 60 mph winds die down) to see if they have something I can use. So I want to preserve my battery ... for we may be here for a while.

The news from Biloxi/Gulfport is not good.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

God bless you all.
