I suggest reading the Gigabyte owners' manual (you can download it from
here) and check out page 19. According to the manual, as well as a review I read, the board will only see six banks of memory, so that's three double-sided modules, or two double-sided and two single-sided.
You might consider
1) whether you could live with 1.5Gb of RAM (using three DIMMs doesn't disable the dual-channel feature... the motherboard has no choice but to use both memory controllers if there is at least one module on each, unlike an Intel DC board)
2) getting 2 x 1Gb modules.
