To many open connections..

I frequently use numerous programs that suddenly open aproximatly 150 udp connections (nat), this causes my other internet related programs to fail, and losse thier connection. I was thinking in lowering the UDP Timeout from 200 to 40 this way the connections would close right away and that will impede them from acumulating... is there any way of stopping those connections.. does a program really needs 100 nat connections? Any help will be greatly apreciated

I have a Zyxel p623-41 connected to a hub which is in turn connected to 3 computers and a X-box

What's the application? It's possible that, if it's some kind of P2P program that it's simply eating up all your upstream bandwidth and normal traffic can't get through in a timely manner.
