I want better video in BF2, have an X800Pro now that can't unlock the other 4 pipes. What's the best I can get for $300? I thought I knew the answer, but with all the new cards out there are just too many choices.
I can run AGP or PCI-e, have an Opteron 146 at 2.74Ghz, a 19"crt, and 1024x768 is just fine with me.
help!

i would pick the 7900GT personally...but the X1800XL/XT/XTPE/XTPEBBQSLILEETKILLERLETSADDMORELETTERSFORTHE1MHZOVERCLOCKEDITION are fine choices too, lol.

did the x1800's drop in price at all since the x1900s came out?

7900GT+Overclock=good

The Overclock pretty good, even with the little stock cooler.

Thanks all. I had thought the x850xt would have been it at my price point, I had no idea the x1800's had dropped so much. The 7900GT looks really good as well, but I flat out refuse to give nvidia one cent of my money. (If you lay down with dogs, you're bound to get fleas).

Now that was...mean.

There's no arguing that the 7900GT is a great card for the money. It's probably faster than the X1800 at stock speeds and will get even faster than fast with some overclocking.

So I'd say get the 7900GT.

Sorry, that was not ment to be personal at all. I agree nvidia makes a good product, perhaps even better than ATI at that price point, but I hate everything else about them. I'm certin invida couldn't care less about how I feel, and thats fine, but I'll never support them in any way.

Alright? (don't worry, I like ATI too, just that I was suggestion a faster card at same price point, you get what you want though, I just make suggestions for ya :p)

Then get the X1800. Either way you go, it still a dam fast card.

Probably should have mentioned that you'd never buy nVidia in the OP... not much of a discussion if that's true though... X1800XT is the only choice

I agree I should have mentioned that. But even on just the ati side of things the choices are out of controll.

Thanks again to all of you for your help. X1800XT it is!
