i cant even play music w/o my pc going to 100 and its starting to stutter! I formted i had avirus b4 but now its gone. I cant get windows xp to install only 2k now. And as im a typing now the letters are slowly going up here. I think its my hdd! i know im not overheating anywhere. helpz

Sounds to me like the virus may have come back (or never really left). Better get yourself some antivirus software.

umm it says PIO mode wth :/ i got 3 drives in here and one cdrom which is my burner. My pc is even skipping sound in game and taking a while for sound to load in game. And when windows start up the windows boot up sound is even skippin.

download the utility for your harddrive to run and see if the harddrive has problems. Whatever brand name your harddrive is there should be a utility. i.e Western Digital, Maxtor, Seagate. You should be able to go to their website and d/l a utility to scan the drive to see if its bad.

Try installing with just the burner on secondary ide channel and the hard drive on primary. Disconnect your other drives. Then add them afterwards by going into disk management. It is a legal copy of XP your using?

Im on 2k and yes i have used xp on this pc! I saying now after awhile now its slow as hell after no system changes. Hmm when i 1st notice oh ya i was going around windows 2k and it seems suglishh! So i ran my AVS which is aVAST! and it found some virus but i have formated :/ Should i try to use wd software and write zeros to my drive and try?

Try a Zero Fill Erase just to make sure the virus and any corrupted files are completely gone.

You can get a utility from your HD mfr to perform 0-fill, and it's a DOS boot program so Windows is fairly meaningless. I've never had to do it myself, I just looked into it at one point. Have you run a scandisk on the drive to check for errors? If you get a false high CPU reading it will still slow down your system btw. Someone here more schooled in sensor technology than myself might help. I consider XP a Virus, and Win2k the cure...

You can download seagate discwizard and save it to a floppy, boot from the floppy disc and run the utility. Takes a while to run.

Im back and oh ya i did have my cpu overclocked and maybe the paste burned away but my cpu temps are still low but my pc is still slow :/ temp is @ 44c for cpu and thats good.

no way to enable DMA :/ i think someone it disabled itself in old windows which i formated since. Could there be a setting in bios and also i have tryed setting it back to old bios from the bios.

ok i went into bios and changed alot of crap to auto and so so. And i found something for device settting there ws CHS or LARGE and LBA and AUTO it was on auto and now its on LARGE which is (large is for drives that dont support LBA) Dunno bout mine but i picked LARGE and now it dont say PIO MODE it says ULTRA DMA MODE and its faster now! WTH i think the auto part on my drive is dying!
