To hear mobo beeps...

Trying to get a asus a8v to beep at me. As is when I try and turn it on the motherboard light turns on and no beeps whatsoever. Wondering if I have to connect a speaker to it.

If I do not have to hook up a speaker. Does the lack of beeps and my inability to get it to post mean that the mobo is no good?
 
You need to connect the case speaker to the MB speaker header for it to beep.

I usually connect it during the first build, then leave it disconnected.
