Ok, co-worker is getting a cable package at home. Three pc's need internet connection, two of which our in same room. The third pc is directly upstairs in the room above where the two pc's are at. Both rooms already have cable outlets so which room should the cable guy install the router in when he stops by? Upstairs, incase wireless is picked that way the ap is higher up, or downstairs so those two pcs can get hooked up right away with out any drilling in walls, etc.

I don't feel like thinking about it and the co-worker wants to know what needs to be done. So which way would you go and what equipment would you buy?

I'm just going to print this thread out and hand it to her and she can get it all done on her own.

I'm on the same boat as you. I just put together a new PC for my dad and his is going to be down stairs as my PC is upstairs along with the router and cable modem. Im considering getting a wireless G router and jump on the wireless band wagon.

I voted wireless. Give the room with the 2 PCs the cable modem and wireless router. Connect one of the PCs in that room into the wireless router with a wire. Get a wireless card for PC upstairs. I guess it's really a wired/wireless solution.
