To get a card or to not get a card.

Hey all,
I am contemplating about getting a new video card and I have $200-225 in the piggy bank saved up. Don't know if I should really upgrade or wait till next Generation Cards and wait till prices drop. I currently have a Ti4200. I would preferably like to get a card that has VIVO on it most likely. I would consider myself a Hardcore Gamer but Average. What's the best bang for the buck for a card around that price range which has VIVO and still performs great?Suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

You could get an AIW 9600 pro, or a FX5900 VIVO with your budget, the 5900 being quite a bit faster, the AIW a much better feature set.

Those don't have VIVO (well, they have VO, but not VI 😛). The card you need depends on whether you need just raw video-in, or if you also need a TV tuner and a full suite of software to go with it.

For TV capture, there's the 9600Pro AIW for about that price. There's also the GeForce5600 "Personal Cinema" edition, but that has lower 3D performance and AT wasn't thrilled about the software (the review's still on the front page). If you just need video-in (and don't want/need a TV tuner or a remote control), there are GeForceFX5900 VIVO cards for about $250, maybe less if you can find an "SE" or "XT" version with it.

The albatron fx5900 was selling for around $200 and had vivo, though I don't see it listed on newegg anymore. I do see that the leadtek fx5900 is $225 though and has vivo.

Th Tv Tuner I don't really care about I just need something that can do Video In for my Camcorder. I was looking at this just now and was wondering. It doesn't have Video In though but I guess I can get a seperate Video Add in Card so everytime I upgrade my video card I dont have to look for one wiht VIVO. I heard Microcenter had a 9800 pro for like $239 a couple days back but I missed out on it.
